U.S. 48 Star Flag - 69 inches X 41 inches 
U.S. 48 star flag. WW2 era. Contract marked Phila. O.M. Depot and size marked 5'X9'6'. Two heavy duty three rivet zinc loops on the ends. This is the same measurements of the "coffin" flags, however, this one with the heavy duty riveted ends is believed to be utlized as field unit flags. Average worn and used condition. Multi-piece heavy duty construction.

The 48 Star American flag was utilized from July 1912 to July 1949. The 48 star flag has the stars arranged in six horizontal rows of eight each, a single point of each star to be upward. There were also thirteen stripes representing the thirteen original colonies. The 48 star U.S. flag was official for 47 years, longer than any other U.S. flag, it was utilized through two World Wars.
