U.S. 1895 Spanish American War Kepi       

1895 Spanish American War kepi or forage cap for enlisted ranks.  Has original leather sweatband (soft), original chin strap held on with NJ/NG brass side buttons and brass 3rd Infantry, Company "H" brass front insignia.  Original brass chin strap keeper.  Cap still has original silk hanging strap at inside rear and bright makers Mfg. crest at top inside which reads:  George W. Hottel, 33 East State Street, Trenton, NJ.  Nice liner and in good shape overall.  This one has been in private collection since 1940s.  The newspaper that was utilized inside hat to keep the shape is also dated 1947.
